Louisiana and our New Orleans Pelicans will be well-represented in the upcoming NBA 2K21.

The NBA 2K series is undoubtedly the most popular NBA video game series of all time. Take me, for instance... I haven't played basketball competitively since I was about 10 years old, and generally only watch NBA when the Finals roll around. Yet, every single year I purchase the new NBA 2K game. It's an absolutely wonderful game, and I can't wait to get my hands on the newest release later this year.

Typically, NBA 2K will feature multiple cover athletes. Generally, they'll feature one athlete for the standard game, then another athlete for a special edition. This year, they will have three cover athletes.

Two weeks ago, the cover athlete for the current generation of gaming systems was announced. Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers will appear on the cover for the PS4 and XBOX One game.

The late Kobe Bryant will appear on the special edition, wonderfully titled the "Mamba Forever Edition". I, for one, was thrilled that they chose to feature Kobe posthumously, although part of me would have liked to see Kobe on the cover of all three editions.

Of course, NBA 2K21 will be the first for 2K to appear on the next generation of gaming consoles. For the PS5 and XBOX Series X, NBA 2K has chosen our very own Zion Williamson to grace the cover of the ground-breaking game. This is saying quite a lot about the Pelican, seeing as he has only played in 19 regular season professional NBA basketball games.

NBA 2K21 is available for preorder now and will be released later this year.
