Some people will celebrate today simply because it's Friday. Others, because it's the first day of Ramadan. We here at 99X, though, celebrate because July 20th is Lollipop Day! Yes, an unofficial, D-level holiday in honor of that sugary sweet stuff on a stick!

According to punchbowl.com:

Culinary historians believe that the lollipop (or at least some form of it) has been around since the prehistoric era. Early humans often enjoyed honey on a stick as a delicious treat. No one really knows how the modern-day lollipop was invented, but we do know how it got its name. George Smith, the owner of a small American candy store, came up with the sweet's name. In the early 1900s, he called the candy a "lollipop" after his favorite racehorse—Lolly Pop.

While we can always find our favorite lollipops here, does anyone ever get tired of the all-time favorite - the Tootsie Pop? How many licks does it take to get to the center?  Maybe one of these lovely lollipop lovers has the answer...
