For those of you who have been yearning for something a little more hard-sounding in the theater, you can mark down August as a month to look toward. Because Metallica will be releasing their own 3D concert film, 'Metallica Through the Never.'

Thrash legends Metallica have revealed on their official website that the band is indeed planning to release a 3D film. Although details on the movie are scarce, the band is planning to secure a 2013 release date for the upcoming feature.

A rift has developed between movie studios and theater chains over who should foot the bill for 3D glasses. And the big loser — surprise, surprise — may well be the movie-going public.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maverick, Goose and the rest of the ‘fly boys’ will land back in movie theaters in 2012 when ‘Top Gun’ is re-released in 3D.

Just because the Scorpions are in the midst of a farewell tour doesn't mean that the end of the road is near as far as band projects are concerned. Singer Klaus Meine says a 3-D concert DVD is in the works, and it should be on the market in the next few months. But that's not all. Meine adds that a new Scorpions album and a career-spanning documentary are also on the horizon.
