Cigarette-Smoker

I, for one, was glad to see this bill die on the house floor this week.

Look, let me start by being crystal clear... I personally don't want anyone to smoke cigarettes, dip, or vape. However, I do believe that every person over the age of eighteen has every right to make decisions for themselves. I've always said that if you can enlist in armed forces and go to war for this country, you should be able to smoke a cigarette and drink a cold one during your down time.

This bill would have increased the legal age to buy cigarettes, dip products, and vape products from 18 to 21.

The bill itself certainly made sense, though, despite it's demise. The premise was that most young adults start smoking at the age of 18 (although I'd bet it's younger than that), and that if they can't legally smoke at 18, they'll never smoke thus leading to less smokers overall.

That was the thinking behind the bill, but the house believed the bill could infringe on liberties of adults.

What do you think about this proposed bill?
