Could Cross Bayou Project Determine Shreveport’s Next Mayor? [VIDEO]
Political analyst Scott Hughes talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about the proposed billion dollar Cross Bayou project, what he thinks are the chances of it becoming a reality and whether it will be a factor in the coming Shreveport mayoral election.
Hughes tells KEEL listeners that he's "not convinced that the Cross Bayou project will be a huge issue in the mayor's race," and its importance in the election will depend on the candidates themselves, adding, "I think most candidates in the race will steer away from it. It doesn't seem to be a very popular project."
Regarding MPC Chairman Theron Jackson being part of the "Cross Bayou advance team" being perceived as a possible conflict of interest, Hughes says, "...it's troublesome, politically, in many ways. There are people who will ask,'Is it right for people to sit and vote for applications for other developments that might actually be in competition with a development that these people are fronting."
