Desoto Parish Animal Services Need Your Help
Desoto Animal Shelter
The folks at Desoto Parish Animal Services work tirelessly day in and day out to promote responsible pet ownership and make sure no pet goes without a loving home.
Cora Gardner, a volunteer at Desoto Parish Animal Services in Grand Cane, reached out for help getting the word about a raffle they're having to raise funds to build a new meet and greet area to promote more adoptions. The funds will be used to purchase a gazebo and nice patio seating set - both being all-weather and rustproof with steel frames. Donations and proceeds will also go towards fencing for the new adoption area. The photos above show the proposed location behind the shelter. Of course, when I read her email, I knew I had to help! Just think of what a wonderful environment potential pet parents will have to meet their new fur-ever friends! Here's what Cora had to say:
It's a huge raffle package with one winning "ticket" winning the entire thing. It includes a Yeti Cooler, Weber portable grill, a $350 Go Pro Camera, 2 tickets to the LSU v/s Utah State football game on October 5th and so much more. Tickets start at just $1.00 for one ticket and tier up to $20.00 for 30 chances to win. This is so important to me and I've poured my heart and soul, with the help of sponsors, to pull this all together. This is the link to the raffle on facebook so you can see everything that is included. I also run the Friends of Desoto Animal Services facebook page by myself as a volunteer to help boost pet adoptions.
Check out the Facebook Page with all of the raffle items and if you can, make a donation. The drawing will be held on September 12, 2019.
Recently, the shelter added a library, making it a great place to volunteer and for families to come and with their kids to play with the animals. Check it out!
The shelter is open Monday thru Friday from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm and they would love to see you!
