Most of us are pretty familiar with our local breweries. One of the first, and one of the best known local brewhouses is Great Raft Brewing. The brewery was named after the historic logjam, known as "The Great Raft",  which was broken up by Captain Henry Miller Shreve in the 1830's.  In addition to Great Raft, Shreveport Bossier also boasts Flying Heart Brewery, Red River Brewpub and 7th Tap.  Local craft brewers abound across the entire state.  But did you know Louisiana is also home to several distilleries?

In fact, you can wet your whistle across a vast number of distilleries across Louisiana. The Bayou State features at least 15 distilleries from Vidalia to Baton Rouge, from Lake Charles to the Big Easy, featuring everything from absinthe, rum, gin, flavored liqueurs and of course whiskey and bourbons.  In fact, the historic Arlington Hotel at 700 Cotton Street in downtown Shreveport is currently being renovated to feature the new Every Man a King Distilling, a french restaurant call The Revenir, a music club hidden in the underground level called The Bottoms Speakeasy, and The Cotton Street Club event space on the second level.  Every Man a King will start producing gin, whiskey & vodka, eventually expanding to include bourbon.
