One of my favorite things about Disney movies is that while they're highly entertaining for the kiddos, there are usually a few great laugh-out-loud one-liners in there for the adults as well. However, it's time to take Disney's writers to task for doing their homework a little too well! Yep, their writers somehow were able to hone in on the ongoing fight between the folks south of I-10 and the rest of Louisiana. I like to call it, 'the great divide!'

Disney's The Princess and the Frog came out in 2009 and I don't know how I missed it, but there's a dig about Shreveport in it. Check it out.

If you aren't familiar with the movie, it's a retelling of the classic Frog Prince story and it's based in Louisiana. In the scene above, Prince Naveen runs into Ray and comments on his accent, prompting the question about where the Prince is from. Here's the actual quote from IMDB.com.

Prince Naveen:
Excuse me, but your accent, it is funny.
Ray: I'm a Cajun, bro. Born and bred in the bayou! Y'all not from 'round here, are ya?
Prince Naveen: Actually, we are from a place far, far away from this world.
Ray: Go to bed! Y'all from Shreveport?
Prince Naveen: No, no, no. We are people

What in the Sam Hill are you trying to say, Disney? Are folks from Shreveport somehow less human? No better than a frog? Ouch! Of course, this isn't the first time the question as to whether or not Shreveport is a part of Louisiana has come up. Uggh!

So, are we going to be upset or laugh about it? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
