Erin Shaves Her Head for Operation Santa Claus
There is something about children at Christmas that just makes me smile. I want every child to have a magical Christmas. It breaks my heart every time I hear a story about a family struggling to pay the bills this time of year, much less provide gifts for the children.
I have been involved with Operation Santa Claus since the very beginning in 1984. I have done so many toy drives all around our community. You have probably seen me play in traffic to get people to donate. I have colored my hair with purple streaks. I even went full Marilyn Monroe platinum blonde a few years ago. I do all kinds of crazy things for this program.
This year, I made a pretty drastic pledge. I agreed to shave my head if we raised $15,000 dollars for Operation Santa Claus. Well we did it. We raised more than $22,000 dollars and I can not be any happier. This money will help us provide Christmas for hundreds of local children. To everyone who donated, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really wish I could reach out and give you a hug.
It is not too late to donate for this year. We still have a long list of youngsters to help and we always have some hardship cases pop up at the last minute. Click here if you would like to donate to this amazing cause.
Thanks so much to all of the Shreveport police officers and firefighters who help make this program possible.
Also thanks to my dear friend Grace Anne Blake from Avalon Hair Salon for taking time out of her busy schedule to take care of the shaving. She has always been a huge supporter of Operation Santa.
