The final meeting to talk about the future of the Confederate monument at the Caddo Courthouse is tonight.

The meeting begins at 6pm at Broadmoor Middle School. The Citizen's Advisory Board is asking for public input about the monument before offering a recommendation to the Caddo Commission.

The Daughters of the Confederacy owns the property and they have started a petition to try to let their voices be heard.

Here's a statement from the Daughters of the Confederacy:

The Caddo Parish Confederate Monument in Shreveport Louisiana stands at the site where the last Confederate flag flew above a Confederate State Capitol at the end of the War Between The States. The beautiful monument is on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned by the Shreveport Chapter #237 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The site where it stands in front of the Caddo Parish courthouse was given to the United Daughters of the Confederacy to use in perpetuity to honor Our Confederate Dead. It should never be removed for it is a symbol of the ultimate sacrifice by American veterans of war.
