Wife of Bossier Firefighter Needs Help With Cancer Battle
If you think you might be hungry this Thursday, December 9, around lunch time, I'm hoping you'll consider a fantastic fried fish plate that will help Melissa Kinney in her battle with Stage 3 colon cancer.
The Bossier City Firefighters Local 1051 is doing what they can to help one of their own. Melissa Kinney, wife of Bossier firefighter, Matt Kinney, has been diagnosed with cancer, and to help them in their time of need, the other firefighters are selling fried fish plates that include fish, fries, hushpuppies and a drink for a minimum donation of $10.
They'll hold this near Liberty Garden, which is in the front of the main fire complex at the Bossier Civic Center, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, this Thursday.
When it comes to people deserving our aid, Melissa and Matt sit firmly at the top of the page. They are truly a "salt of the earth" kind of couple. I've been blessed to call them friends for a couple of decades now and everyone should be so fortunate to have people like this in their lives.
The news of Melissa's diagnosis hit so many of us like a sucker punch out of the dark. But, true to form, these two are tackling this with their faith and a genuine positive attitude. True pillars of the Haughton community and Bossier Parish as a whole, there just can't be finer people who could really use our help now.
The organization does ask that if you'd like to place a large order, please call ahead to make arrangements. The number is 318-564-2662.
