Great Raft Honors Veterans With New “Barksdale Bubble” Beer
Great Raft Brewing is rolling out their new IPA in honor of Veterans Day, and it just might be my favorite beer ever.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm deeply involved with two things... Beer and the Barksdale Bubble. Now, Great Raft is taking on our favorite local phenomenon to make one seriously phenomenal beer.
I was so excited to receive an email from Kris at Great Raft this morning, because generally when Kris reaches out, that means there's a new beer coming my way. However, I was more excited than normal today when the first line of her email read, "I know you're a big Barksdale Bubble guy".
Clearly she knows me well because after reading the press release and seeing the can itself, I can say I've never been more excited for a beer in my life. Luckily, we don't have to wait long to get out hands on a case.
The Barksdale Bubble from Great Raft will be released tomorrow, fittingly on Veteran's Day. While Great Raft's tasting room will remain closed for on-site drinking, orders can be placed at GRBtogo.com, and picked up curbside Wednesday through Friday from 4-8pm and Saturday from 12-8pm.
The Barksdale Bubble IPAis available for pre-order beginning today, Tuesday, November 9, at 12pm.
Here's what Brunson Cartwright, Operations Manager of Great Raft Brewing, had to say about the Barksdale Bubble IPA:
It’s been an extremely tumultuous year, and the team here at Great Raft wanted to do something fun to show our love for our community. The Barksdale Bubble is one of those local phenomena that everyone in Shreveport-Bossier can appreciate. Using the Veterans Blend hops in a beer that’s a tribute to our local Air Force community seemed like a natural choice. We’re proud that our choice supports the Gary Sinise Foundation and our nation’s veterans.”
The double dry hopped oat IPA features a special Veterans Blend of hops from Yakima Chief Hops. For more information about Yakima Chief Veterans Blend Hops, visit their website at yakimachief.com/veterans.To learn more about the work of the Gary Sinise Foundation, visit garysinisefoundation.org.
