I-220 East to I-20 East Ramp Closure Rescheduled for Next Week
You might have noticed that you were able to get onto I-20 East from I-220 East the past couple of nights. You weren't supposed to have that ability. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development was supposed to have closed that entrance ramp the last couple of nights; August 9 and 10.
However, that plan changed. In a notice on the LaDOTD website, that work has been rescheduled to take place this coming Monday, August 16th and Tuesday, August 17th from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am each night.
The ramp closure is necessary for bridge construction activities over the ramp related to the ongoing construction of the new I-220/I-20/Barksdale Air Force Base Interchange.
The plan is to do this necessary bridge construction work in these hours in an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public.
The ramp will be reopened each morning by 6:00 am.
Obviously, the inconveniences we are experiencing now will be far outweighed by the benefits of having another entrance to Barksdale Air Force Base and providing some traffic relief for the West Gate and North Gates.
With that in mind, the LaDOTD wants you to know they appreciate your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
