Shreveport City Councilman Grayson and SPD Chief Ben Raymond talk with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the idea of converting the BHP Billiton building to a new Shreveport Police headquarters.

Boucher tells KEEL listeners that the city still has access to three "finance packages," a bond-like plan, currently in place, that would allow the city to borrow about $5.5 million. He also expresses optimism that the Preston Street structure, has the square footage (70,000) and parking spaces (300) that would give the SPD the space it needs.

Chief Raymond, however, tells KEEL listeners that his first option is still to build a new structure, designed for police use, on the site of the current headquarters. Raymond says this is still his preference, despite the fact that voters recently turned down that plan as part of a $186 million bond proposal.
