Jameis Winston is headed back to school.

Well, actually, he just joined the Saints—signing a one year deal for $1.1 million. I'll explain more on the "back to school" line later, but this is an insane deal for the Saints considering that Winston was the NFL passing leader last season. Before you bring up the fact that he also threw a league-leading 30 interceptions here is a list of other NFL backup quarterbacks who will make MORE than Jameis Winston next season.

If the passing yards aren't enough, look at the other categories that defined his 2019 season.

Looking at these combined tweets gives me more than enough information and confidence to say that the Saints basically stole the best backup quarterback in the league—and it was a win-win situation for both parties.

The former No. 1 overall pick joining the Saints also gave New Orleans what is easily the deepest group of quarterbacks in the league.

Oh, and remember that "back to school" line from earlier? Check out what Winston had to say about the opportunity to join the Saints and rehabilitate his NFL career behind a future Hall of Famer named Drew Brees and his sidekick/head coach Sean Payton.

Being a part of the New Orleans Saints, being a part with Drew Brees, Taysom Hill, Sean Payton, coach Joe Lombardi, coach Pete Carmichael. When you think about that room, that's like a Harvard education in quarterback school

For all Saints fans who are STILL worried the "W"-eating Jameis" might embarrass us in front of the entire league,

I want to put my ego aside ... and think about my family, think about my career.

For those who do enjoy a good Jameis Winston quotable, he delivered on his first major interview as a Saint speaking with Saints reporters on a Zoom call.

There was no better position than to be in the same room with someone that I really looked up to, someone that I admire since I've been playing this game in Drew Brees. I actually have a Hall of Fame quarterback that I'm learning from, opposed to trying to learn by myself or use Google

His interview with reporters went well as he spoke about the new vegan diet that he's been on for the past few months that has "changed his body drastically," but the biggest revelation from the interview should be welcome news for the Saints.

To clarify, I should mention that Jameis says he didn't have "bad eyes" before the LASIK surgery.

So, buckle up and prepare for the Jameis Winston era in New Orleans. At a minimum, we will get to experience him in black & gold for one season. If things shake out well, he could be the next franchise quarterback. With a supporting cast that has consistently had one of the best passing games in the NFL since 2006, it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Either way, the Saints signing Jameis was an absolute steal.
