What Businesses Could Make Shreveport a More Fun Place to Live?
Thank you Drew Brees! You might have single-handedly saved Shreveport and Bossier City!
The former New Orleans Saint and sure to be NFL Hall of Famer has happily opened the entertainment Pandora's Box for Northwest Louisiana.
Brees' new Surge Entertainment is the talk of the town and rightfully so. People have complained for years about the lack of "anything to do" here in Shreveport/Bossier and Brees has now stuck his toe in the entertainment pool here which has left a number of other proprietors severely in the red causing them to pull up stakes and leave the area.
Of course, we aren't without a decent share of entertainment destinations in the area. We should remember to be thankful for places like Splash Kingdom, The Stage at Silverstar, Bass Pro Shops, Holiday and All Star Bowling Lanes, Party Central, all our beautiful golf courses, Brookshire Grocery Arena, Los Paloma, Mudbugs Hockey, Margaritaville and all the riverboats and some of the best retail shops and restaurants anywhere in North America.
However, stepping into the unique area of entertainment here is somewhat risky. Let me remind you that, as this is being written, they are finalizing the contract to demolish our beloved Fairgrounds Field, home of the former Shreveport Captains.
Wouldn't it be amazing to have another professional sports team? No matter if it's MLB or NFL, can you imagine what that would do for the area?
We need to support what we have and what might come on our way. I know that in Haughton we would love to have a few simple things like a Southern Maid Donuts, or a Chic-Fil-A or Starbucks!
Last thing we need is another Mexican restaurant or Family Dollar, but maybe Brees' investment in the area will spawn others to join the entertainment party here.
We are hoping these people are reading this now and might soon wish to bring their collective businesses to the area.
