The threat of higher taxes isn't the only news coming out of Baton Rouge this week. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, the Louisiana Office of Tourism, and the Louisiana Office of State Parks just announced the creation of the Louisiana Bass Trail.

Our state is internationally known for its bass fishing.  Nungesser said in a statement, "I always like to say, you can fish anywhere but you catch fish in Louisiana."  The Bass Trail will link seven lakes at eight state parks in an effort to encourage visitors to fish more than one lake.  It will also make it possible for the state to market the State Park amenities that are available to out-of-state visitors.

Stops on the Bass Trail include North Toledo Bend and South Toledo Bend State Parks, along with Caney Lake at Jimmie Davis State Park.  The other State Parks are Lake Bistineau, Lake Bruin, Lake Claiborne, Lake D'Arbonne, and Poverty Point Reservoir.

For a guide to the Bass Trail, "Bassports" are available at participating State Parks and online at LouisianaBassTrail.com.
