Louisiana is USA’s ‘Least Green’ State: Is That Good or Bad?

With Earth Day 2019 rapidly approaching and many local economies still recovering from natural disasters including hurricanes on the East Coast, wildfires on the West Coast and flooding in the Midwest, the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on 2019's Greenest States.

In ranking the best and worst "eco-friendly" states, WalletHub compared the fifty in terms of 27 key metrics that speak to the current health of the environment and residents’ environmental-friendliness. The data set ranges from total municipal solid waste per capita to energy-efficiency score to carbon-dioxide emissions per capita.

And how did our own state of Louisiana fare in the WalletHub rankings? As one might expect, not particularly well.

• 33^rd – Air Quality
• 27^th – Soil Quality
• 46^th – Water Quality
• 50^th – % of Recycled Municipal Solid Waste
• 49^th – LEED-Certified Buildings per Capita
• 45^th – % of Renewable Energy Consumption
• 47^th – Energy Consumption per Capita
• 32^nd – Gasoline Consumption (in Gallons) per Capita

But how many of these metrics are related to the dubious claims of disaster made by global warming advocates, or even the controversial economy killer known as the Green New Deal.?
