This is another of those times each year all of our hunters and fishermen should commit to memory.  If you hunt or fish here in the Sportsman's Paradise, you'll want to remember to renew your license before June 30, 2020.

To make that task easier, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has made the purchase available online.  If that's the route you'd like to take, just go to la.wildlifelicense.com

However, this coming weekend, June 13 and June 14 are completely different as Louisiana provides another annual Free Fishing Weekend.

Regardless of where you live, here in Louisiana, or you're from out of state, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries allows all to fish the incredible waters of our state for absolutely no charge with no license requirements.

In a press release from the LDWF we learn:

“Each year, we designate a weekend of free fishing as an incentive for families and friends to get outside and enjoy our beautiful Sportsman’s Paradise,” explained LDWF Secretary Jack Montoucet.

“Whether your interest is saltwater or fresh, Louisiana offers some of the best and most diverse fishing opportunities in the world, and we welcome you to become part of the long-standing tradition of Louisiana fishing.”

While a fishing license is not required, all fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions will remain in effect during Free Fishing Weekend.

The LDWF also reminds us that when we do purchase our fishing licenses, we help Louisiana to provide funding for public fishing and boating access, fishing programs and education, and fisheries management through the Sport Fish Restoration Fund.

And they go on to add a safety reminder to practice social distancing measures by maintaining at least six feet of distance from people who are not in your household due to the coronavirus pandemic.
