Mike Johnson: Judge Kavanaugh ‘Going To Be Exceptional’ [VIDEO]
Congressman Mike Johnson talks with 101.7 / 71 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about President Trump's nomination of Judge Bret Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court.
Johnson tells KEEL listeners that the nominee is, in fact, a Constitutional conservative and "was at the top of the short list that the President floated prior to the 2016 election." The Congressman also says, "This is a safe pick for the President. And, clearly, conservatives can take a degree of confidence...in this pick. I think he's going to be exceptional. His record is extensive It proves that he is committed to the principles of originalism, the separation of powers and an independent judiciary and he's going to help restore fidelity to the rule of law."
Commenting on the possibility that this nominee may be too conservative for middle-of-the-roaders like Alaska's Lisa Murkowski or Maine's Susan Collins, Johnson adds, "I think that we'll keep all the Republicans together on this and, if we do you get the necessary fifty votes, and he's confirmed." Johnson also says he doesn't think that the Kavanaugh nomination will get any support from Democrats in the Senate.
