The gulf system that forecasters have been watching all week may now make landfall in Louisiana as a hurricane.

The latest update from The National Hurricane Center says that Invest 92L has officially become Potential Tropical Cyclone Two. Additionally, it's now predicted to make landfall as Hurricane Barry on Saturday.

NOLA.com says the Potential Tropical Cyclone classification is new, and will now be assigned to future storms that are not strong enough to form a Tropical Depression, or Tropical Storm, but are on their way to those classifications.

Right now, the National Hurricane Center is predicting rain accumulations of 6-18 inches across the state of Louisiana. Their current model shows the storm arriving in the Ark-La-Tex between Sunday and Monday. By that point, they predict the storm will be reduced to a Tropical Depression classification, but is still likely to bring heavy rainfall to our area.
