What’s on the Ballot on November 13 in Shreveport Area?
The October election in Louisiana was postponed until November 13 and voters will be faced with several Constitutional Amendments on the statewide ballot.
But in the local area, there are several other items for you to decide. One reminder, the Shreveport Bond Proposals will not be on the November ballot. That November election has been pushed back until December 11.

Fire Protection District No. 7 Proposition
This 23.9 mill tax would be levied on all property for a period of ten years, beginning with the year 2023 and ending with the year 2032. This money (about $389,000 each year) will be used for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, maintaining and operating fire protection facilities and equipment for the District.
Town of Arcadia 2 Propositions
Two sales tax renewals are on the ballot. One is for street and drainage projects along with solid waste. The other renewal is for constructing or repaving roads, parks, an industrial park and general revenue for the town.
Town of Haynesville Proposition
This is a continuation of a 5.04 mill property tax to maintain and operating the streets and the sewerage system of the Town.
Claiborne Parish
Tax Continuation in Wards 2 and 3 for the recreation district. This will pay for equipment and maintenance of recreational facilities.
Sabine Parish
A library tax renewal is on the ballot for a ten year extension. This would be used for the purpose of the administration, improvement, operation, maintenance and support of the Sabine Parish Library and its branches, including the costs of any capital improvements.
A health unit tax renewal is also on the ballot for another ten years. It would include funds for the operation, administration, support and maintenance for the Sabine Parish Health Unit, including the costs of any capital improvements.
A tax continuation for Ward 7 is also on the ballot. This would continue this tax for 10 years to pay for construction and maintenance of roads and bridges in the district.
Union Parish
A millage renewal for the school district is on the ballot. It’s a 15 mill tax on all property. It would bring in $2.4 million a year to be used for public elementary and secondary schools.
Statewide Amendments
Amendment 1
“Do you support an amendment to authorize the legislature to provide for the streamlined electronic filing, electronic remittance, and the collection of sales and use taxes levied within the state by the State and Local Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Commission and to provide for the funding, duties, and responsibilities of the commission?”
Amendment 2
“Do you support an amendment to lower the maximum allowable rate of individual income tax and to authorize the legislature to provide by law for a deduction for federal income taxes paid?”
Amendment 3
“Do you support an amendment to allow levee districts created after January 1, 2006, and before October 9, 2021, whose electors approve the amendment to levy an annual tax not to exceed five mills for the purpose of constructing and maintaining levees, levee drainage, flood protection, and hurricane flood protection?”
Amendment 4
“Do you support an amendment to increase the amount of allowable deficit reductions to statutory dedications and constitutionally protected funds from five percent to ten percent?”
Early voting for the November 13 election runs from October 30 through November 6 (except Sunday).
