Pastor Opens Christian Sex Shop…Oh, Come All Ye Faithful?
As a sexual being, I always feel sort of bad for the religious nut jobs who -- how can I put this without sounding offensive -- only have sex to make kids. No, seriously, there is so much sex to be had beyond the missionary position and it is meant to be fun and enjoyable, not to be viewed as work.
But for many people of certain religious factions, that is EXACTLY what sex is. A duty, a job, not something something beautiful shared between two loving parties (or in my case, something that is empty, expensive, a hell of a lot of fun, and shared with a hooker).
So when I read this article online, I was extreme excited, and not for me but for those that maybe didn't think it was ok to have fun in their sex lives.
A former minister in Holland, who is now a licensed sex therapist, has started a Christian sex toy shop.
The online store called, Lief Destuin (Love Garden), includes articles about sex, sign ups for sex-related lectures and workshops, and -- of course -- toys.
The site, which contains no nudity, pornographic images or offensive language, is being marketed as a safe space for Christians to make these purchases.
He doesn't offer whips or other fetish items, but not because he finds anything wrong with them. Instead, he just doesn't want to shock the Christian community.
This truly is a wonderful thing...at least that's what I thought until I saw a picture of a product they allegedly sell. As there are no pictures, and I can't speak Dutch, I don't know if this is a real product or not. All I know is I can't tell if I should be offended or just laugh my ass off. On one hand, it REALLY is offensive. On the other, I guess it's one way to let God into your love life. You be the judge. Either way, May the Sex Be With You.
