A single-engine aircraft with one person on board crashed shortly after 2 p.m. at the Shreveport Downtown Airport. You

No word yet from the Shreveport Fire Department emergency crews about the cause of the crash, however, authorities believe that strong winds may have caused the aircraft to flip over landing topside-down and break a wing while the pilot was attempting to land the plane.

The pilot was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Emergency crews reported that the pilot sustained a minor abrasion to his head and was experiencing some difficulty breathing while being transported. In addition to performing life-saving procedures, fire crews were called to contain a fuel leak and control hazardous emissions.

The Federal Aviation Association (FAA) and the Shreveport Airport Authority are investigating the crash.
