Several Area Schools & Business Closing as Hurricane Laura Approaches
Some local school districts and businesses have made the decision to close ahead of Hurricane Laura. The storm is expected to make its way to our area sometime Thursday. At this time, Laura is expected to hit our area as a Category 1 storm which could cause flash flooding and wind damage. The storm could also create tornadoes in the area.

We're getting reports of several local grocery stores announcing they're closing Thursday. If you need groceries, check with your local store before heading out.
Caddo Schools & Caddo Parish Head Start will be closed Thursday & Friday. Bossier Schools will also be closed Thursday & Friday.
Shreve Memorial Library will be closing today at 2 pm and will remain closed all of Thursday and potentially Friday.
City of Shreveport & Caddo Parish offices will be closed Thursday.
SporTran will be closed tomorrow.
Diesel Driving Academy will be closed Thursday.
The David Raines Community Health Centers will be Closed Thursday.
Hope Pharmacy in Shreveport will be closed until Friday morning.
All Northwest Louisiana Technical Community Colleges will close Wednesday at 1 pm and remain closed through Friday. Classes will resume Monday August 31.
Southern Arkansas University will be closed Thursday and Friday
The Life Discovery Center After School on Mansfield Road will be closed Thursday & Friday.
Panola College is closing at 5 pm Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday & Friday.
Loyola College Prep is closing Thursday & Friday.
Evangel Christian Academy & Learning Center will be closed Thursday.
St. John Berchmans Cathedral Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
St. Joseph Catholic Schools will be closed Thursday & Friday.
Northwestern State University will close at noon Wednesday in advance of Hurricane Laura. No classes at all on Thursday or Friday. This includes all campuses in the NSU system.
LSUS will be closed on Thursday. This includes in person classes, but online classes will be held.
DeSoto Parish schools will not have face-to-face instruction on Thursday. All students will participate in virtual learning on Thursday and Friday. Pre-K students will not report Thursday or Friday.
Several services will also be effected in DeSoto Parish. The DeSoto Courthouse, Mansfield City Hall and administrative office of DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office will be closed Thursday and potentially Friday.
Natchitoches schools will close at noon on Wednesday and will remain closed through Friday.
Sabine Parish schools are closed Thursday and Friday.
The town of Many is implementing a city wide curfew beginning at 7:30pm.
Central Louisiana Technical College will close beginning at noon Wednesday and remain closed through Friday.
The 2020 North Louisiana Travel Outlook Conference which was scheduled to take place tomorrow in Shreveport has been moved to September 10th.
Pilgrim's Plan will be shutting down production this evening. There will be no night shift Wednesday and no Day Shift Thursday. Workers will return for the Night Shift Thursday.
Parish offices in Sabine Parish will close today at 1 pm. The offices will remain closed Thursday and Friday.
