Shreveport Dog Park Is Back Open
The Shreveport Dog Park is now back open to pups. It was closed last year when heavy rains caused the Red River to rise and overtake parts of the Shreveport riverfront.
Folks with the Dog Park Alliance say it is still a bit muddy and the water is not yet back on, so you may want to bring your own water and a towel to wipe those muddy paws off.
The dog park opened on July 14th, 2017, but it has been closed several times because of high water. City crews have to come in and do cleanup to get the park ready for the public each time.
Volunteers are also very active in helping the city clean up the park after big storms.
The dog park is located on Clyde Fant Parkway at Stoner Avenue 2 miles south of downtown on the riverfront, inside of the Stoner Boat Launch Facility.
It's open 7 days a week (closed Mondays until noon for maintenance)
If you spot a problem at the park, you are encouraged to report it to shelly.ragle@shreveportla.gov or call 318-673-SPAR or message SPAR on Facebook.
Bickham Dickson park remains closed and it will likely never be back open to the public as a Shreveport City Park.
