A Shreveport man was arrested after he beat up a woman and stole her car, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

On Saturday, April 30, at 12:22 p.m. the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Pines Rd. near the intersection of Bert Kouns. The victim reported a battery and named Damion Loyd, 36, as a suspect. During the incident, a witness said she was going to call the police. Loyd then got in the victim’s car and drove away before deputies arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

On Sunday, Shreveport Police found the suspect at a motel in the 5100 block of Westwood Park. Loyd took officers to the 2600 block of Silver Pine Blvd. where the victim's car was recovered.

CPSO interviewed the suspect and later arrested him. Damion Loyd was booked into Shreveport City Jail and later transferred to the Caddo Correctional Center. He was charged with second degree battery, domestic abuse battery and carjacking.

After further investigation, Detectives determined Loyd also committed sexual battery. The charge was added on May 4.
