Shreveport Mayor Elect Tom Arceneaux: Saints or Cowboys?
As we all know, the Shreveport Mayor's race got really nasty toward the end of the campain. Both camps had vowed to keep things on a positive level, but said they couldn't control what other individual PAC's did.
Toward the end of the race, issues were brought up about both men's past that were not flattering. Both candidates spoke to KEEL News about those issues, where KEEL News asked the hard questions.
And Monday, Mayor-Elect Tom Arceneaux spoke to KEEL News after his victory, and KEEL News continued to ask Mr. Arceneaux the hard questions.... Saints or Cowboys? And Mr. Arceneaux replied, in a typical politician's fashion...
Haha… Both… If you’re a Cowboys fan, you can like the Saints, but if you’re a Saints fan, you can’t like the Cowboys.
But when pressed on this all-important issue, Mr. Arceneaux explained his position:
I lived in Dallas for three years before we moved to Shreveport, I went to every single Dallas Cowboys home game before there ever were any New Orleans Saints. I became a Cowboys fan with Eddie LeBaron, Don Meredith, Bob Hayes, Bob Lily… all of those people… and the first two years, they had losing seasons, so the last year, in 1966, that we were in Dallas, was the first year in Dallas that they ever had a winning season… so I went through the ‘Aints experience with the Cowboys, and then here came the Saints. But when the Saints came in, they made no effort whatsoever to develop a fan base in North Louisiana… they just left it to Dallas.
You can hear Mr. Arceneaux answer that tough question below.
