As Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux is approaching his 100 day mark in office, he has named his picks for two top staff positions.  Mayor Arceneaux has recommended interim CAO Tom Dark as his permanent CAO, and Sherricka Fields Jones as his permanent Finance Director.

Tom Dark is a former CAO for the City of Shreveport that brings more than 33 years of experience back to city hall. Dark has served various positions for the City of Shreveport under 7 different mayors, going back to Mayor Calhoun Allen, who served as mayor from 1970-1978.  Dark retired in 2008, and returned to public service at Mayor Arceneaux's request to serve as Interim CAO in January 2023.

Fields Jones served as Chief Financial Officer under the Perkins administration.  She also served as assistant CAO in the Tyler administration as well as the Glover administration.  After being appointed Chief Financial Officer in the Perkins administration, Fields Jones resigned suddenly in December of 2020, with no explanation being given.

Mayor Arceneaux told KEEL News on Wednesday the last major appointment left to fill is City Attorney.  Arceneaux said that that position has been a little more challenging to fill.  When asked if he had narrowed down the applicants, Arceneaux said he was still in the middle of his search.

The reccommendations for CAO and Finance Director go before the City Council at their next meeting for council approval.  Mayor Arceneaux is optimistic these nominees will be approved by the council.
