Shreveport Police Arrest Convicted Felon on DWI & Weapon Charge

On March 11th, 2023, around 8:00 p.m. Shreveport Police Patrol Units conducted a traffic stop in the 5800 block of East Jewella Avenue in reference to a vehicle leaving the roadway and getting stuck.

During the traffic stop, officers contacted the driver Derrick Dudley (11-15-91). Officers took Dudley into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. During the investigation, Dudley was also found to be in possession of a firearm. Further investigation determined that Dudley was prohibited from owning a firearm due to having convictions for a narcotics offense.

The firearm was seized by the officers and Dudley was arrested for one count of DWI, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
