Don't look now, but 'tis the season.

That old Halloween jack-o-lantern may still be sitting on your porch becoming one with the concrete, and your Thanksgiving turkey may be still be running around on your back forty, but Santa is already on his way.

The City of Shreveport's kickoff to the annual Spirit Of The Season is on Tuesday, November 21st, at Riverview Park.  The event, which includes the holiday tree-lighting ceremony, begins at 6:00pm.

The first 100 people to the event receive commemorative Christmas tree ornaments.  Entertainment will include the Shreveport Community Church “Songs of the Season,” the Zion Baptist Church Choir, the Southwood High School Band, and local singers Marcia Nelson, Angela Grant and Brenda Wimberly.

We have it on good authority that there will be snow.  Downtown Shreveport Unlimited recently purchased two snow machines that they've given to the city to add to the yuletide ambience.

And what would Christmas be without Santa?  Old St. Nick will be arriving in the Ark-La-Tex especially for the Christmas kickoff.  Plus, after the tree is lit, hang around to watch the movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
