Retail giant Stage Stores has announced that they will be closing another 40 to 60 stores within the next year, including a pair of Stage branded stores in Louisiana. Both locations are in Lafayette, but don't think the Shreveport stores are in the clear just yet.

40 to 60 stores may not sound like much when you consider that Stage Stores is actually the parent company that operates over 700 Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, Gordmans, Peebles and Stage specialty department stores, but there's more to the story.  According to the Advocate, as of earlier this month - the company has shifted gears and is currently in massive restructuring mode.  The president and chief operating officer of Stage Stores, Michael Glazer, plans to shut down 40 to 60 under-performing stores and convert 30 to 40 more stores into Gordmans stores.  No word on if the stores in Lafayette will be converted, or the fate of the Shreveport area Stage locations.
