Marvel Comics and Dustin Bates of Starset are teaming up to release an original graphic novel, The Prox Transmissions this September.

“I'm incredibly excited to have the opportunity to create this graphic novel with Marvel Comics on behalf of the Starset Society,” said Bates. “I've been a fan of Marvel since I was a little kid wishing I was the Hulk (and little did I know how much I'd end up identifying with Bruce Banner as I grew into adulthood). It's an honor to be working with such an iconic brand to spread the inception story of the Society via The Prox Transmission.

Inspired by the likes of Nikola Tesla and Carl Sagan, Starset’s music, videos and unique live performances were created as part of a larger concept called the Starset Society. The Starset Society is dedicated to publicizing emerging, near-future technologies and investigating their inevitable social, economic, political and philosophical impact on society. The book is a scientifically-charged allegory written by Bates and novelist Peter David that chronicles the Starset Society from concept to fruition. It unfolds as sci-fi that seems akin to Carl Sagan’s Contact with a modern spin where a SETI radio astronomer receives a cryptic message that is a dire warning from the future. As with most sci-fi, it’s all about saving humanity, something we need a whole lot more of in the real world these days.
