Homegrown

The Residents are an avant-garde art collective known for their musical and multimedia works. In 1966, they first stepped out on the San Francisco art scene, and since have influenced hundreds of musicians and artists such as Les Claypool and DEVO.

Language Room from Austin, Texas, came out ahead in our weekly Homegrown Picks poll! Listen for "In Lines" in light rotation on 99x this coming week. Look for a new poll to be posted late tomorrow morning with an all-new lineup of local up-and-comers.

Last week, we got the largest amount of votes EVER! Only fitting, since we featured the three biggest vote-generating bands we've had in these polls.  More than 4800 votes last week...and our BIG winner was Kulture Kill! So, congrats to the guys for hitting another huge number (just over 3300)! You can hear "Peel the Skin" this week on 99x!

Week 20 was a great voting week...more than 1,500 total votes! Our winner this week is....Gabriel's Last Breath!  The guys are awesome, and I'm looking forward to hearing their tune "The Book" on 99x this week.  Gonna do something WAAAY different THIS week...

Great voting week for round 18, gang! Not a record, but way better than the previous week. It was a close one, but the winner is American Swindle. The guys won by just over 100 votes. We'll be playing their tune "X's for Eyes" on 99x this week...
