National Guard troops worked around the clock to construct a backup wall under the Jimmie Davis Bridge as the wall already there was starting to leak. Shreveport Chief Administrative Office Brian Crawford sent us the video of the wall which is holding up.
The National Weather Service calls it an "Advanced Hydrologic Prediction", but to folks like you and me, it's a quick way to see - hour by hour - how high the river is, how much higher it will get and how long til the water starts to recede. In a word, it's amazing!
As of this morning, the National Weather Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service says the Red River will now crest in Shreveport at 36.5 feet by Sunday afternoon.
More shocking footage of the historic Red River flood, shot today by Lt. Bill Davis of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office. According to the office, the level of the river at the time this video was shot was 34 feet.
