For every advancement in modern convenience, there must also come obvious flaws. Alexa and Google Home owners may have learned this the hard way with South Park’s Season 21 premiere, as the numerous jokes about Alexa responses naturally set off the devices in viewers’ own homes.

By now, you know the drill. South Park doesn’t really rev up until the week or so before each premiere, but that doesn’t mean Season 21 arrives empty-handed. Check out an artful new teaser for the September premiere, as the town and its NSFW inhabitants cover “This Is How We Do It.”

If ever you lament that South Park occupies a brief window of Comedy Central each year, you’re in for a surprise. Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny and the rest will take over the network this year with an eight-day marathon of almost every episode, leading right into the Season 21 premiere.

We’ve seen The Simpsons and Robot Chicken team up for a couch gag once before, but never to take aim at South Park, or the California Raisins for that matter. And yet, both end up facing Homer’s wrath in a new couch gag from Sunday’s latest, featuring Robot Chicken co-creator Seth Green.

The quick turnaround of South Park episodes famously enabled Matt Stone and Trey Parker to address the 2008 election “About Last Night … ,” as well in 2012 basing an episode off Obama’s re-election. Perhaps the only South Park trivia cited so often as its six-day turnaround might be the one time creators exceeded it, owing to a power outage at South Park Studios. As it turns out, last week’s 20th anniversary premiere very nearly added another footnote to the record, as malfunctioning audio delayed “Member Berries” right up to an hour before showtime.

It’s hard to believe South Park will kick off its 20th year as early as this Wednesday, and given the famous six-day turnaround, our first details only now arrive. South Park will “Member Berries” by rebooting the national anthem in this week’s season premiere, the first clip of which you can watch right now.

South Park has grown consistent enough as of its nineteenth season to not expect too many surprises, and while Matt Stone and Trey Parker have planned through at least 2019 seasons, the landmark 20th season already has an eye on the fall. Comedy Central has confirmed a September premiere date for the two-decade milestone.

South Park, to me, is still one of the funniest and irreverent show on TV. Over the years, they seemed to have fallen off the weekly 'Must Watch' list, but every time I tune in I'm far from disappointed. And tonight's episode looks absolutely FANTASTIC.
