Once you have a kid, you have to have a car seat.  When we had our little girl, the hospital staff came down to make sure we had the right one.  They also checked that we knew how to use it and were comfortable doing so.  The problem is, like everything else - kids grow out of them.

If you can afford it, there are a few companies that sell models that will last your kid's entire childhood.  They convert from infant to toddler seat, then a booster to accommodate your older child.  Most people go through at least 2 (if not 3) per kid, and they aren't cheap.  Luckily, if you are in the process of switching (or you just have your old one collecting dust somewhere) Walmart wants to help make it easier.

Just bring in your old car seat, and the low-price leader will give you a $30 gift card you can use in any of their stores.  If you are getting another child seat, you can use those funds towards the purchase of the appropriate one.  If you are getting out of the car-seat game, use it on whatever you like!

The Walmart Car Seat Recycling Program starts today and runs through the 30th of this month.  Check out the official press release along with the terms and conditions for this offer here.
