Time to get outdoors, y'all! we are already into the first week of summer, and there is an abundance of adventures here the great state of Louisiana. If you are looking for outdoor experiences, the folks at Only in Louisiana have some great suggestions on fun hikes with beautiful scenery. Sounds like I need to get those hiking boots out stat!

  • Mandalay Nature Trail, 3599 Bayou Black Drive, Houma. Located in the Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge. Serene freshwater marshes and a cypress-tupelo swamp
  • Restoration Park Trail, 700 Downing Pines Road, West Monroe.Bring the family along for the paved walkways and boardwalks
  • Black Swamp Trail, 4560 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge. Located inside the LSU Ag Center Botanical Gardens, offering trails under a mile long.
  • Toledo Bend Reservoir Loop,120 Bald Eagle, Anacoco. Beautiful waterfront views inside South Toledo Bend State Park
  • Nature Trail at Fontainebleu State Park, 62883 LA-1089, Mandeville. 2,800-acre state park, and a trail that is about two miles long, making it perfect for families
  • Audubon Adventure Trail, 1000 Lake Forest Boulevard, New Orleans. Part of the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, the trail is short enough for an afternoon hike, and it is scenic enough that you might want to hike it twice!
  • Hooper Road Park Trails, 6261 Gunnel Drive, Baton Rouge. Hidden in the middle of our capital city, you can hike any of the 3 trails near scenic Beaver Pond
