Representatives of the financially beleaguered Sci-Port Discovery Center have approached the members of the Caddo Commission about the possibility of borrowing $2 million to restructure their debt. 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty ask, given the facility's checkered economic past, would you loan them $2 million of your tax dollars?

101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty discuss the latest developments in the Sci-Port saga, including reports from The Shreveport Times that "Sci-Port representatives have asked Caddo Parish commissioners if they are open to granting the non-profit museum a $2 million loan for debt restructuring..."

The Times story also says that Sci-Port reps have spoken to "at least two Caddo Commissioners," Steven Jackson and John Adkins.

The downtown museum, which had a partial reopening earlier this month, had closed to the public in August of last year due to financial difficulties. At the time of the closing, 72 employees lost their jobs.
