Great news for hockey in Shreveport!

The Shreveport Mudbugs and their home, George's Pond at Hirsch Coliesum has been named a finalist for the Kraft Hockeyville competition!

Kraft is looking to giveaway $150,000 to a hockey rink in the US to help with improvements, fixes, or renovations. The Mudbugs and George's Pond were up against hundreds, if not thousands, of rinks across the country. Here's how Kraft described this year's contest:

"We’re looking for GREAT stories and community participation to show us that you, your community, and your local rink embody the spirit of Kraft Hockeyville.

New in 2018, we’re introducing a Rally Score to compliment your story. The community can help boost the Rally Score by adding notes, uploading photos & videos, tweeting from the community page and interacting with the community content gallery."

The first place rink will get $150,000, second place will get $30,000, while third and fourth place each get $10,000. Meaning that the Mudbugs have already won at least $10,000, but with the passion that Mudbugs fans show, that number is likely to grow!

If the Mudbugs win, they'll also earn an NHL Pre-season game. Which would be incredible. Imagine seeing the Dallas Stars, Nashville Preditors, or Detroit Red Wings play on George's Pond at the Hirsch! This could be a total game-changer!
