Body Count Unveil Video for Suicidal Tendencies Cover ‘Institutionalized’
Body Count made a big return with their 2014 album 'Manslaughter,' and one of the songs on that disc was a cover of the classic Suicidal Tendencies song 'Institutionalized.' Now the band has released the video that you can check out above.
Ice-T modernized some of the lyrics, adding references to Xbox, email passwords and vegans (Sorry, Pepsi). The chorus, however, remains the same. You can see Suicidal's version from their 1983 self-titled debut album below. Both bands have re-emerged the past couple of years. Suicidal released '13' in 2013 and had some high profile tours in 2014, including hitting the road with Slayer.
In an interview last year, Ice-T talked about covering the song: "We remade Suicidal Tendencies 'Institutionalized' as an homage to Suicidal. They were the first band to rock the bandannas and bring out the L.A. hardcore punk side out, so we redid that. In that one I’m ranting about playing Xbox and vegans and f--kin’ the Internet."
'Manslaughter' was Body Count's first album since 2006 and the band hit the road in support of the disc on the Mayhem Festival. Body Count have some European shows scheduled for June, including France's Hellfest. Check out the dates here.
