Bossier City Teacher Receives National Honor
An Elm Grove Middle School STEM teacher earns quite an honor. Spencer Kiper has been chosen as the 2016 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace National Teacher of the Year.
Major General Joseph Vasquez, Civil Air Patrol Commander, sent Kiper a congratulatory letter that read:
"Being singled out as the most outstanding aerospace education teacher in Civil Air Patrol should make you exceptionally proud. The selection process was based upon your numerous achievements in the classroom and favorable recognition by the Civil Air Patrol Commanders in the Southwest Region."
In a Bossier Schools news release, Kiper said CAP has become such an integrated part of his professional and personal life, and to represent them on the national level is a dream come true.
Among Kiper's achievements are recognition as the local Air Force Association's Teacher of the Year, and selection as one of 27 educators from around the world to participate in the prestigious Space Foundation Teacher Liaison Program. Also, his robotics team at EGM won the 2015-16 title of Grand Champions of the Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit for the middle school division.
Kiper receives his honor in August, when he heads to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Civil Air Patrol National Conference.
