The buildings at Texas and Murphy street in downtown Shreveport that used to house Sun Furniture City, have been sitting empty since the historic furniture store went out of business back in May of last year.  Thanks to the new owners, the iconic location will have a brand new lease on life.

KSLA is reporting that the buildings have been purchased by SporTran, and the plan is to turn the area into a hungry traveler's dream come true.   "Phase 1" of the plan is to create a food court for hungry SporTran, Amtrak and Greyhound passengers.  Currently there are no food options in the area, but organizers plan to entice local restaurants to fill the space once the construction and remodeling are complete.  The food court is scheduled to be completed by next year.

Across the street, another new SporTran facility is planned that would include a new area for bus maintenance facility, a charging station for electric buses, and autonomous shuttles.
