Come Face-to-Face With the Beast in Three New ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Clips, Plus an IMAX Featurette
Kong: Skull Island is a kind of sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, and, since it’s also about a giant monster, has a lot to live up to in terms of creating a ridiculously huge sense of scale. Kong is bigger than anything should be allowed to be, and it’s sometimes tough to make a monster look big without making it look silly and unbelievable. A few new clips from Kong: Skull Island show us that this movie will have the same sense of wonder and awe as Godzilla — and maybe even more.
The first clip gives us that fantastic shot that circles around Kong though two helicopters. Where Godzilla’s marketing kept the monster itself mostly hidden, Kong is front and center in these clips, and what a fantastic beast he is.
The second new clip gives us another extended look at John Goodman’s wonderfully sinister character, obsessed with finding this monster and bringing proof of it to the outside world.
The next clip hints that there might be a lot more on this island to worry about than Kong himself. If you saw a bunch of giant ape skeletons in a mass grave, bones picked clean, you gotta wonder what exactly could have put them there.
