How Many Mass Shootings Have Happened in Louisiana This Year?

Leaders in Shreveport have been working to find solutions to our growing violent crime problem. During the first 3 months of 2023, there have been several people killed in episodes of violence. But Shreveport has also had some mass shootings that have rocked our community. But Shreveport is not alone in having these tragic episodes. Many Louisiana communities have seen mass shootings since the New Year.

The Gun Violence Archive tracks these incidents across the nation. But the group also tracks all incidents involving deaths or injuries from people using guns. Here's a look at this history over the past 7 years.

There have been 120 mass shootings across the United States so far this year. There were 647 mass shootings across the country last year.

The report also shows 10 mass murders in the nation this year. Louisiana had 8 of those mass shootings. 2 of these incidents have happened in Shreveport. Local police are still investigating the mass shootings that left a total of 11 people wounded and one woman dead. A 3-year-old child was critically wounded. It's heart breaking to learn about these stories where incident young people or folks going to church fall victim to these senseless acts of violence.
