Remember When Marilyn Manson Did Karaoke In Shreveport?
It's been a little over a year since Marilyn Manson was in Shreveport visiting some of our local bars. He even stopped in one establishment to sing a little karaoke. If he had not been accompanied by an entourage, you might have missed him because he was not decked out in his usual get-up for the occasion.
We bring this up because Manson is back in the news, but not because of any surprise sightings. The 48-year-old rocker essentially doubled down on his beef with 23-year-old pop star Justin Bieber.
You may recall that Manson and Bieber initially got into it because Bieber was selling a a t-shirt from his Pupose Tour for $195 at Barney's in New York. The shirt featured an image of Manson on the front and the words "Bigger Than Satan...Bieber" on the back. The shirt's designer then went on Instagram and thanked Manson for signing off on the deal. Problem was, that never happened.
A few weeks later Manson ran into Bieber at a club. Manson asked Bieber about the shirt, and Bieber reportedly said, "I made you relevant again." (Ouch!) As you can imagine, this didn't sit well with Manson. In an interview last month with Consequence Of Sound, Manson said he “took all the proceeds from those shirts from him. They didn’t even fight, they were just like, ‘yea, we already know, we did wrong, so here’s the money.’"
That, it seemed, was that. That is until last week. US Weekly reports that in an interview with a Dallas radio station on Friday, Manson was again asked about the incident. He responded by saying, "I don’t like to fight with girls, so I don’t wanna fight Justin Bieber," When interviewer Cindy Scull asked him about Bieber's merchandise, Manson said, "I don’t know, because I don’t know how to use the mind of a squirrel." Okay then.
So far there's been no response from the Bieber camp. Manson's new album Heaven Upside Down was released on October 6th.
