Over the years, I have been fortunate to win several awards for my work, but I don't think anything can compare to this latest honor.

The Alliance for Women in Media has just announced that I have won a Gracie Award. These awards are named in honor of Gracie Allen (from Burns and Allen). It's still kind of surreal to see my name among the list of winners on the AWMF website.

The Alliance for Women in Media was formed in 1951, originally as American Women in Radio and Television. Nearly 25 years later, the annual award program was created with the aim to recognize individuals in media who reflected the changing roles, issues, and concerns of women

I will be traveling to New York to receive this award in June and I am so excited to be recognized by my peers.

Next month I will be celebrating 35 years on the radio in Shreveport with nearly 23 years of that with my morning show partner, Robert J. Wright. I can not explain why we work so well together. It has just worked. We don't fight. In fact, I think we've have one big brouhaha in all those years and neither one of us remembers what it was about. We have differences of opinion all the time and that's what makes our show so much fun to listen to each morning. People tell me all the time, they think I am a part of their family. And I feel the same way. I consider all of our listeners a big part of my extended family.

When I need you to help with a project, you always step up. If I need to be straightened out on a topic, you are not shy in sending me your opinion. I love that. The interaction we now have with listeners is second to none.

I thank you for listening each morning to our little radio show and hope we get to continue doing it for many years.
