While I can certainly sympathize with that emotion, we have to understand that there are two sides to this argument and apparently neither side is willing to settle.

This contract dispute has gone on for over 4 weeks and cost customers/viewers hundreds of hours of programming including several big football games.

It seems that these days, everything in the news is bad news. Race riots, wars all over the world, the Secret Service and their Bolivian hookers. Even the weather and sports - tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, the Saint's bounty-gate. Bad. Bad. bad. It seems the only GOOD thing about TV news these days is when you run across a hot news anchor, sportscaster, or meteorologist. Then it doesn't really matter what they're talking about.
