Tom Brady Rookie Sells For $100k On eBay As 2021 Season Starts
For the last year or two, the world of sports cards has been downright stupid. Right now, there are stores across the country, including Target stores and Walmart's, who have moved their sports card to behind the Customer Service desk, if they're even selling them at all. They're having to do this because there have been fights breaking out in stores over sports cards getting put out for sale.
The biggest reason behind stores having to hide and ration their cards is the state of the secondary market right now. Sports cards are worth more than gold in a lot of cases. With cards consistently selling for over $100,000 weekly on eBay. Not just legendary cards like Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan rookie cards either. Modern players. Players from all kinds of sports.
We've seen rookies for players like Zion Williamson and LeMelo Ball regularly sell for $20,000 to $75,000 online. Not to mention baseball players like Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, and Fernando Tatis, Jr, who have all had cards sell for five-figures. This rush of modern card values has caused the sports card industry to hit incredible highs.
Even the most legendary cards are seeing values skyrocket. Like the most expensive card in history, the T206 Honus Wagner. That card set a new record this year, selling for over $6.6 million.
Now that football season has arrived, expect to see stupid high prices on football cards rotate back into focus. In fact, its already started.
Before the 2021 season kicked off, Tom Brady's most expensive rookie card took center stage. This card, a 2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket Autograph, will likely break records during the football season. On eBay it recently sold for $100,000...a number it will see again and again.
