Hopefully you've seen the trailer above by now. It's over 5 million views within the first 18 hours of being posted online.

The Suicide Squad movie is an interesting experiment in the rush of comic book movies. First of all, this movie is about villains...whole thing. The concept of the Suicide Squad is that a bunch of captured villains are turned into a covert team of 'good guys' forced into tough situations as problem solvers that the government can deny involvement with if things go bad. The team is controlled by having methods of killing any member of the team if they go rouge.

The other reason is that this team, although it has known members, isn't a mainstream group. Which is why you'll see some major characters in supporting roles. Characters like The Joker, Batman, and Lex Luthor are all going to surface in this movie (Batman and Luthor are rumored, but I'm pretty sure we'll see them).

Characters like the two above, aren't very well known to mainstream fans, hell, even some comic fans don't know much about Captain Boomerang and Slipknot. But they're big parts of the Suicide Squad.

If the protagonists in the story are unknown, you better believe the antagonists are even lesser known. Well, except The Joker in this movie, but we don't even know how much of the traditional 'villain' role he'll play. But let's look at who the most likely villain is:

That? That's Enchantress. She's an explorer named June Moone who becomes possessed by an ancient evil. The character has been involved in the Suicide Squad stories for a long time.

She's identified in the trailer as though she's a member of the Suicide Squad team, however we never see her WITH the team:

But we do see her as June Moone, without the powers or influence of Enchantress....

Now that shows that at some point she may be separated from the Enchantress power by someone along the way. But why? Perhaps someone needed to 'weaponize' her powers. But who would that be?

Remember that time I said Lex Luthor was maybe going to show up in this movie? I think that's the ticket.

Although they could find a way to make The Joker the reason why, but I don't think the aspects of the Joker character we've been shown lends to that idea. But what we see in the trailer is that someone has enhanced the Enchantress powers. Whether it's June Moone who is using it, or someone else, we don't have a clear idea yet.

Here's what we know, the damage and destruction we see has the same look that Enchantress has in the shots we get to see of her (the floating ash and darkened tones):

After seeing this, I think it's safe to say she's tied into it somehow. It made me want to review the trailer a few more times. What I found were some pretty solid examples of an over-powered villain showing up at some point in the movie, and bringing an army along. Here is what I found:

First, we get to see this scene with a subway train getting blown up...

But how? Well, if you look closely, you can see a bright green figure standing in the middle of that train. Here are some other shots:

So what is that? WHO is that? Well, here's another look at it, from a different spot in the trailer, from a different angle, of the same figure:

Big green suit, but using Enchantress powers? OK...weird right? The green suit makes me want to say Lex Luthor. He's got a giant green krypton suit in the world of DC Comics, so that could be what we're seeing. Let's see if we can find any bald-head pics:

Not sure, looks kinda bald from here. What it doesn't look like, is The Joker. OR, Enchantress is involved in the resurrection or dimensional shift of a more powerful villain with similar powers? Suicide Squad stories have involved entities like Incubus, Nightshade, Sebastian Faust, or Hermes Trismegistus. Are we seeing that here? Well, here's a shot from the trailer that might lead to that:

I feel like I spent way more time than I should have to tear apart the first official trailer for a movie we won't see for months. I'm sure there will be spoilers between then and now either confirming, or destroying my theories above. Anyway, what I do know, is that I feel much better about this movie after seeing this footage!
